About

Visiting Looe, Cornwall

I’m Caroline Scott Collins (pseudonym – Caroline (my middle name), Scott (my birth last name), Collins (my last name)) author of contemporary romantic fiction. I love writing and fulfilled a lifelong dream when I published my debut novel, A Charming Bequest, (2022). Then I began writing my series – I’m hooked. I have to write!

I love where I live, in a pretty market town steeped in character and history situated on the western edge of Dartmoor, Devon, England. The town is not far from the river Tamar, the border with Cornwall, and there is easy access to the whole of the southwest peninsula. The beautiful beaches, pretty coastal villages and the rugged, wild beauty of the moorlands all fire my inspiration and connect with my soul.

My career experiences: Originally I trained and qualified to work in hospitality. Since then, I changed careers a few times – financial services, adult education teacher and a freelance virtual assistant.

I have two sons who I love very much, and six gorgeous grandsons rapidly growing up. I attended university as a mature student in order to try to improve my career opportunities and achieved a BA (Hons) and MA in post compulsory education. Writing essays and dissertations for my courses fanned my spark of passion to write, into a flame.

I dreamed of being a published author from a very young age, but it took me about five decades to find the courage to ‘have a go’, supported by my late husband and an elderly writer I used to work for. My partner encourages me now, and I’m very grateful for his support.

I write stories created in my imagination, resonating with truthful events, facts, and emotions. I believe it’s important to offer readers enjoyment and believable escapism with my stories—honestly written (I will never use AI) and I sincerely hope I achieve that goal.

I like to write stories about people’s problems, observable or past life experiences, which they must learn to rationalise to overcome them and find a way forward. Personally I enjoy reading stories where I might learn something new, or maybe a different way of looking at problems.

I’m a member of the Alliance of Independent Authors.org

I use Scrivener to organise and create my writing projects. It’s very good for keeping information together synching between an iPad and my MacBook, through Dropbox. If you’re a writer and interested, take a look by following this link: Scrivener

I use Vellum to format my books and so far, I’ve designed my own covers—scenes from the story.
